Hi Paul,

That is a very good (and frequently asked) question, unfortunately I do not
have a satisfying answer.

I am mostly a bare metal person, so I do not spend a lot of time thinking
about operating systems or interpreted languages on these platforms. I
mostly just write in assembly language since that is my favorite.

I have had some people tell me that they have ported tiny basic or a couple
of operating systems like CP/M over to the platform. Nothing as recent as
DOS. Any OS would be older than that. The most interesting is someone that
brought K2FDOS and TEA editor/assembler over since they had used it on a
bubble memory device back in the '80s and they wanted to port it over. I
do have one system with the bubble memory running the K2FDOS but other than
that it is all bare metal and resident monitors.

Sorry I can't be more help, you may want to ask around on some of the
vintage computer forums.

Regards

Craig

Subject: SBC-85 questions

Hello Craig,

I found your listing for SBC-85 and I just had a question - what all can be
done on it once it's built? Are there any Oses or anything that can be
burned to EPROM? I know nothing about the 8085, but do know how to put
together projects (the last being an 8088 single board computer and
associated backplane). Which is great, because it can run DOS, but I'm
curious to learn something else as well.

Thank you kindly for your time,

Paul
