Hi Craig

I have started an initiative to compile a 'directory' of information about
the early Intel computers, starting with the Intellec 8 but with the
intention of moving on to cover the 4-bit and 'SIM8-01' systems as a
further stage. This would feature publications, photographs and a table
summarising the setup of a number of examples of the Intellec 8 - mostly
the MOD80 type.

I've written to 10 owners of Intellec 8s, and have started to receive
responses, particularly in the form of photos of the boards in these
systems. Some of these names have come via messages on the VCF forum and
other from general searches. One aim is simply to enable these people to be
aware of each other.

One aspiration is to discover where people have received paper tapes with
their systems - although the chances of this appear remote. So, a focus is
on firmware, including user programs in 1702As.

Am I right to assume that the PROM board you have shown in videos uses
Intel's version 3 monitor? And that where you showed the Gettysburg Address
that was located in the upper 8 EPROMs? Or, are you making no use of
Intel's monitor?

One reason for asking is to locate a version of the code for the 8008
system. There's a source listing in Intel's publication 98-022B (in various
repositories), but I'm not aware of any disassembly. I realise you may not
plan to use Intel's code - but would a set of 8008 hex files have any value
for you - if I'm able to find the code. I have asked Bill Beech, who has
documented various other monitor versions.

Regards

Jon
