Craig,

What I should have done on the programmer pcb, is jumpers to allow the sele=
ction of the power and ground connections. But, connection to the 26 pin po=
rts requires an update to the eprom i/o due to the 8755 and 8155 mapping of=
 the ports. Probably not worth dealing with, for now.

Can you make available the design files for the 26 pin and 34 pin protoboar=
ds? I can=E2=80=99t seem to find them on tindie or in your site=E2=80=99s d=
ocumentation link. I am close to another pcb order, and wanted to put these=
 in on the order.

Thanks Again,

Regards,

George

Very nice project.

The I/o ports on my boards is a bit of an embarrassment

The first one was to make the layout easy because the board was so tight. T=
he power and gnd were at opposite ends of the header. Then I switched the =
pole and grounds to be the same on diagonal so if plugged in backwards the =
5/gnd were the same so it would not immediately blow out whatever was plugg=
ed in. Maybe I should have matched the SDK-85 on that board.

I never got into PL/M , probably too late to rewire my brain.

Looks like you nearly have this project wrapped up!

Regards

Craig

Craig,

I have the 8755 programmer that was in the link I sent previously operation=
al.

Here are a few pictures:

Programmer attached to the SBC85+. It only works on the 34 pin connectors, =
as I didn=E2=80=99t catch the pins 1,2 power reversal on the 26 pin connect=
ors when I updated the board.

The hex spacers are to attach the display board, (next picture)

Only 4 are used to hold the display board, the rest are to support it when =
using the keyboard.

<image004.png>

Here is the SBC85+ with the display board attached. There are only 4 spacer=
s attaching the display to the cpu board.

<image005.png>

Here is a screenshot of the software. I have modified the code to include d=
isplaying the buffer contents.

<image006.png>

I have a intel hex loader in the ZIF socket on the cpu board. I use this to=
 upload the eprom manger software to the 6264 ram chip and run the eprom so=
ftware from there. Testing is nearly completed, and it works great. Many th=
anks to the original software writer, Jim Shortz for the programmer design =
and code.

The eprom manager software is written in PL/M (with some assembly program l=
inkage) and requires a little work with Visual Studio to get the support pr=
ograms(compiler, assembler linker and locator). One this step is done, maki=
ng changes is straight forward. Here is the link for the PL/M compiler and =
support programs. https://github.com/ogdenpm/c-ports

I would like to get this to work on the STD85, but need to review the J2 pi=
nout, as it is reversed from the SDK85/SBC85+. (an adapter pcb should fix t=
he reversal)

I finally got to write some PL/M code for an 8085, and it runs on the newly=
 built SBC85+ !!!! It=E2=80=99s been 40 years since I had a class in PL/1.

Regards,

George
