Hi Craig,

Hopefully I can ask you a question. I received everything in my order, and=
I did get my credit from Tindie, so all is good. I am still gathering and=
ordering parts to build both the MSC-85+ system and the Matt Millman Eprom=
programmer. And again, thank you for the help.

Can you tell me what Eprom is used for the MSC85+ monitor that I purchased.=
  I think it is an 8755A. I didn=E2=80=99t pull off the label. I have a v=
ery old Needham PB-10 Eprom burner with an expansion board. The PB-10 actu=
ally uses an ISA card that plugs into a PC slot. I restored an old PC with=
a Intel Pentium III running Windows 98, and got it working. The software =
is DOS based. I bought some 8755As on eBay as you suggested. I am able to=
change the data through the PB-10, and program it into the Eprom, and read=
it back, erase it with a UV unit, etc. So it seems all to be working. Whe=
n I read the supplied MSC85+ with the PB-10, all I get is the first couple =
of lines showing EF EF EF etc. The rest of the Eprom seems to be all FF. =
I have selected an Intel 8755A in the PB-10 program. Am I missing something=
? I=E2=80=99ve downloaded the MSC85+ monitor and assume I just need the mo=
n85.hex file to program an erased 8755A?

BTW, I was able to download and print the base for the MSC85+.

Thank you for any help,

Tom

Ok, partial refunds just take a little longer since tindie needs to do it m=
anually.

I have requested a partial refund of $45 on the first order (all but the $8=
 millman shield and adapter).
They usually do refunds within a few days, but check back if you do not rec=
eive a refund email from them by the end of the week.

craig

Hi tom,

I was about to ask tindie to cancel the whole first order but I noticed tha=

=C2=A0 Did you still want that or are you going to use your needham emp20 t=

=C2=A0
Hi Tom,
=C2=A0
The EPROM for my SDK is not exactly the same code.=C2=A0 From a user=E2=80=
=99s perspective it acts the same and all the main subroutine entry points =
are at the same addresses, but it will not directly run in a real SDK-85.=
=C2=A0 There are little things like the serial bits being inverted and need=
ing to change the configuration of the display.=C2=A0 So unfortunately thes=
e 8755s will only run in the SDK-85+ board.=C2=A0 You may want to cancel th=
at off the order since you can download the code and program yours own when=
you get the full SDK-85+ with the display going. =C2=A0Or you may want to =
just start with the little MCS-85+ that just has the 8085, 8156, 8755, and =
8185 since it is a simpler build.
=C2=A0
As for your two SDKs and getting them going again=E2=80=A6..
I presume you have tried removing and reinserting all the chips from their =
sockets. If these worked when put away decades ago, reseating the chips wil=
l solve 90% of oxide problems.=C2=A0 I also presume that you have checked v=
oltages and replaced any suspect capacitors. =C2=A0=C2=A0A problem with the=
SDK is that other than the initial sign on, if the thing goes on the fritz=
you never know what the display is trying to say since it is depending on =
the keypad entry.=C2=A0 Over the years I have had to take the keycaps off m=
y SDKs and spray them with deox because they got to where I needed to slam =
them pretty hard to get a keystroke registered.=C2=A0 But I don=E2=80=99t t=
hink that would cause either of your problems you are seeing. Even without =
a keystroke, it should say 8085 when first powered up.
=C2=A0
Some SDK-85 diagnostic software would be handy that ran the display and key=
pad through some known conditions and then allowed for a terminal to furthe=
r probe the SDK.=C2=A0 If you can=E2=80=99t get yours going after a reasona=
ble effort, we may look into that.=C2=A0 I think there are others with dead=
SDK-85s that could use such a tool.
=C2=A0
In the mean time, we can cancel and revisit this existing order.=C2=A0 If y=
ou just want a blank 8755, there are some $5 ones on ebay.
=C2=A0
Also, on ebay I noticed there was a very low cost needham EMP20 programmer =
that can program 8755s (with the right personality card (which are readily =
available)).=C2=A0 I think it was in the $50 range which is a steal if it h=
appens to work.

=C2=A0
I see you ordered some boards from tindie, thanks but I had a question.=C2=
=A0 I noticed that you just ordered the SDK single board computer and not t=
