Craig

You=E2=80=99re welcome.

When I hired in with Johnson Controls Inc. in the early 80=E2=80=99s =
they had three projects going that used the terminals. Two waste =
treatments plants and an I&C contract for the USAF ASTF (Aeropropulsion =
Systems Test Facility).

Part of that last project was being written utilizing the internal =
processing capability of the 8001. This documentation was part of my =
involvement in that project. I also copied the source code for the 8001 =
that we had. This allowed what follows.

I created a configuration where the test 8001 was in half-duplex, sent =
keystrokes to a CP/M development system. The development system ran the =
O/S, a chunk of the ISC code and the internal ISC software being =
developed. The simulation code then sent the resultant character code to =
the displaying device. This freed us from burning EPROMs until much =
later in the cycle, shortening the development cycle.

As for emulation. I have an H19 and an=20

Z90. The H19 supports a couple of old systems that require a terminal. =
Should I develop the inspiration to fix the real-estate issue of the =
H19, a Raspberry Pi could emulate a wealth of terminals all being =
displayed on a modern HDMI/DVI/DP monitor. I always liked the 48-line =
8001 for coding using a yellow character on a blue background.

That=E2=80=99s my story, what=E2=80=99s yours?

Mike

P.S. OK, I just went to SBC-85 and see software by Craig Andrews. That =
be you?

P.P.S. I see we share similar interests. I=E2=80=99ve got a vintage =
Ampro SBC riding on top of a pair of 5.25=E2=80=9D floppies. Also have =
an Osborne Exec and an Imsai 8080 and more antique and obsolete stuff.

P.P.P.S. I=E2=80=99ve got a 3870 piggy back chip. Have you got a PCB for =
sale?

Hi Mike,

Yes, this is the one that I have, thank you. Where did you come across =
this documentation? You have original paper copies? Are you planning on =
writing an emulator?

=20

Regards

Craig
