I really don't know why.  Bubbles are fascinating, and work really 
well.  They're not very portable though, not like a floppy disk. Intel 
did make something called a plug-a-bubble to address that.  I have one 
of those too, but it's designed to plug into the expansion connector of 
a multibus card, and I've never gotten around to figuring out how to 
hook it up to something else.
