Hello Craig,

Thanks for reaching out!

Based on your feedback, it appears that you are seeking a system to manage
and possibly sell your works- is that correct? If so, CatalogIt doesn't
currently include any sort of e-commerce features and does not
generate barcodes.
That being said, you can easily generate internal QR codes (that only your
authorized users can access) not only for your Entry records, but for
Folders, Collections, Exhibits, and any other Profile (Location, Person,
etc.). You can also easily generate QR Codes that are publicly accessible,
for the Entries you are sharing via the web. These QR codes can be used in
a variety of ways (see this great article here
<https://www.catalogit.app/masterit/creating-efficiencies-with-qr-codes> on
implementing QR codes for your collection).

A personal plan includes an Entry/Object Id field and we could definitely
set a pattern (ie YEAR.NUMBER, or NUMBER or someText.NUMBER) that
auto-increments. The personal plan doesn't include accession or acquisition
profiles so we can't do anything like an 'acquisition number' whereas a
museum account includes the concept of an Accession- a group of items from
a single source at a particular time, while the Organization account tracks
acquisitions. You can compare and review our different account plans and
their features here <https://www.catalogit.app/compare>.

You also mentioned "*your primary means of identification is by article
name which works for one-of-a-kind artworks but not the sort of items in my
collection*." What type of classifications are you looking for to document
your collection? A large part of the value CatalogIt brings to any
collection is a rich set of accepted and authoritative classifications and
structured, common field names which gives museums and collectors a
universal language for identifying objects and recording their condition,
characteristics, and value. You can view our classification list here
<https://support.catalogit.app/index.php/Classifications>. You also have
the ability to use the Category profile to create your own, customized
hierarchical categories for your pieces (see a quick video here
<https://support.catalogit.app/index.php/CatalogIt_Quick_Tips#Using_the_Hie=
rarchical_Category_Profile>
on
how this works).

Let us know if you have any other questions we can help you with!

Best,
Danielle
